FAQs
Your items
Yes, for safety, legal, and hygiene reasons, certain items are strictly prohibited in self-storage units. These include:
- Hazardous or flammable materials: such as petrol, paint thinner, fireworks, gas canisters, and lithium-ion batteries (due to fire risk).
- Perishable goods: including food, plants, or anything that could rot or attract pests.
- Illegal or stolen items: such as unlicensed firearms, drugs, or counterfeit goods.
- Living beings: no animals or humans may live or be kept in a unit.
- Wet or damp items: these can cause mould and damage to your belongings and others’ units.
There is no fixed time limit. You can store your belongings for as short or long as you need — whether it’s a few weeks or several years.
At Breeze the safety and security of your belongings is our utmost priority. However, in the unlikely event that something happens to your belongings, such as a fire or flood, whilst storing with us, we require all customers to have adequate insurance to cover the replacement value of your goods for the duration of your stay.
This is an industry standard and most reputable storage facilities will require it. As an alternative to arranging your own Insurance we can accept an enhanced liability for Loss or Damage which may occur during storage under StoreProtect up to your stated Maximum Replacement Value. “StoreProtect” means an agreement by us to accept an enhanced liability for loss or damage to your goods as described in the StoreProtect Addendum.
No. You can insure your possessions under your own insurance policy, however the policy must state that it covers your possessions whilst within a storage facility and note the name and address of the store that you are using.
You will also need to provide the store with a copy of your policy documentation.
Our StoreProtect fees are calculated according to the Maximum Replacement Value of your goods. The more valuable your possessions the more expensive the insurance cover will be. Our cover starts at £12.50 per month for £2,000 worth of cover.
Your Maximum Replacement Value must represent the total current cost of replacing all stored property as new, except the following items where the replacement cost is calculated differently:
- household linen and clothing, motorcars, motorbikes, boats, caravans, motorhomes and any other motorised vehicle, where the Replacement Value allows for the age, quality, degree of use, existing damage and consequent market value;
- any goods which cannot be purchased new (such as antiques or works of art, for example), where the replacement value shall be the current market value; and
- documents, where the Replacement Value shall be calculated as the physical cost of replacing the documents and/or cost of reprinting, re-issue and/or reconstitution, but excluding the value of the information contained in the documents.
